I am an essayist, comics artist, poet and critic. I am currently working on my first full-length illustrated essay collection, Big Beautiful Female Theory, with generous assistance from Creative Victoria, the Copyright Agency, and the Australia Council. I will soon complete a residency at the Keesing Studio in Cité internationale des arts in Paris, thanks to the Australia Council. I am represented by Martin Shaw at the Books Desk.
I have written and illustrated the comics chapbook Sexy Female Murderesses (Glom Press), and my debut poetry collection, If you’re sexy and you know it slap your hams (Subbed In, 2019) was recently shortlisted for the Mary Gilmore Award. I won the 2018 Woollahra Digital Literary Prize for Nonfiction, and the 2018 RMIT non/fictionLab Prize for Experimental Non-fiction. I was a finalist for the 2018 mid-year Walkleys, and I was shortlisted for the 2019 Cosmonauts Avenue Non-Fiction Prize. I was a 2019 CA-SRB Emerging Critics Fellow, a 2018 Felix Meyer Scholar and a 2016 Wheeler Centre Hot Desk Fellow.
I have performed, appeared on panels, and illustrated for many festivals, including Melbourne Writers Festival (2019), the Ubud Writers and Readers Festival (2018), the Stella Schools Program’s Girls Write Up Festival (2016, 2018) the Emerging Writers Festival (2016–2020 and Queensland Poetry Festival (2018). From 2018–19, I co-curated Synthetic Heat, a series of non-fiction readings, with Ellena Savage.
I have taught creative writing and comics through Arts Access, the Stella Schools program, the Emerging Writers Festival, Queensland Poetry Festival and Ubud Writers and Readers Festival. I work as creative writing tutor at RMIT, and as a facilitating artist with ArtLife at Footscray Community Arts Centre.
I hold a Master’s Degree in Creative Writing, Editing and Publishing from the University of Melbourne, and an Honours Degree in English.
