I am an essayist, comics artist, poet and critic. I am currently working on my first full-length illustrated essay collection, Big Beautiful Female Theory, with generous assistance from Creative Victoria, the Copyright Agency, and the Australia Council. The work has been recognised in awards, including the Peter Blazey fellowship, The Lifted Brow Experimental Non-Fiction Prize, the Woollahra Digital Literary Prize and the Cosmonauts Avenue Non-Fiction Prize. It will be published by Affirm Press in late 2021/early 2022. I will soon complete a residency at the Keesing Studio in Cité internationale des arts in Paris, thanks to the Australia Council. I am represented by Martin Shaw at the Books Desk.
I recently published a comics chapbook, Sexy Female Murderesses (Glom Press), and my debut poetry collection, If you’re sexy and you know it slap your hams (Subbed In, 2019) which was shortlisted for the Mary Gilmore Award. I have been shortlisted and have won many awards and fellowships for my essays, comics, poetry and criticism.
I have appeared at many festivals, including Melbourne Writers Festival, the Ubud Writers and Readers Festival, the Stella Schools Girls Write Up Festival, the Emerging Writers Festival, NYWF and Queensland Poetry Festival. From 2018–19, I co-curated Synthetic Heat, a series of non-fiction readings, with Ellena Savage.
I have taught teaching creative writing and comics through Arts Access, the Stella Schools program, the Emerging Writers Festival, Queensland Poetry Festival and Ubud Writers and Readers Festival. I work as a creative writing tutor at RMIT and as a facilitating artist with ArtLife at Footscray Community Arts Centre. I have guest lectured at the University of Melbourne.
